Personally, if you don't know what is out there why are you playing with digital fire.  Fear, Uncertainty and doubt sells security solutions that are not secure or stops you from engaging.  It is all in the presentation, if you told someone where you live, don't be surprised how they know where you live, however, creepy is when someone implies, works out, buys your data and uses it.  But there are different laws for that.
