Click Stream....

Telecom.TV asked this week “Who owns the clickstream? Perhaps we all do! Whilst we all think we do own the click stream, it is not so clear. The click stream is also only a tiny proportion of the data that you can get as a company. The issue raised about Trust in the article is an important, but it should have asked what we trust companies for. There is a grey area between what we trust a supplier for, what we would trust them for, what by law they could do and what I expect them to do. This is a mind field and opens up opportunities for growth companies who want to take a leadership position where the major brands are too concerned about protection and governance. In response to Mark Zuckerberg saying privacy is dead.

The Sunday Times ran an article on Jan 17 th 2010 The article by Richard Woods outlines the change in attitude to privacy presenting the usual vast array of attitudes from don’t care (understand) to I want hide (and will to pay to protect).  The article does not address who owns your data, what rights you have given up or how you turn data into value – but we should all worry. The key point that is worth bringing out is that whilst you and your data (footprint) has some value, there is more value in knowing who you do things with and how you influence others.  The link is to the “ what principal and the who effect ”  Source: Teo " One Nation Under Closed Circuit Television.
