Although we produce and author digital content, we do not seem to have complete ownership of it and this problem of lack of ownership occurs at several points when we want to, or someone else needs to, gain access or control over it, these being abuse, historic and death. Abuse – when our information/ ID is stolen or taken out of context History – it doesn’t become history, it remains current but we need it to fade and become less relevant (prevalent) Death – gaining control to be able to switch off and archive.

Spokeo - find out how much your US friends are worth #mdfp

Image
I thought it was time to revisit Spokeo http://www.spokeo.com and   http://pleaserobme.com/ - as you can now find out if they are out and worth robbing, adding Google maps street level enables you to plan the escape route. PleaseRobMe has made its point, however, Spokeo has not moved on. Trying a few friends in the US, I personally found the data was inaccurate (white and not back sort of level) or hopelessly out of date and a few have managed to hide their data. Spokeo is not new launched in 2005 (USA) says it is a search engine specialized in organising people-related information from phone books, social networks, marketing lists, business sites, and other public sources. Most of their data is publicly available on the Web.  For example, you can find people’s name, phone, and address on Whitepages.com, and you can get home values from Zillow.com.  Spokeo’s algorithm can piece together (however not that well reading some of the reviews and my test) the scattered data into coher

Global Wireless Satisfaction Survey #mdfp

Image
Mob4Hire the Crowd Testing and Research for Mobile Applications company who I am linked to as a board advisor has released a Global Wireless Satisfaction survey. Slide share http://www.slideshare.net/stebankag/mob4hire-presents Top line (and no surprises here) it demonstrates that the mobile apps and ecosystem that network operators provide users is extremely important to their customer loyalty around the globe: 75% of mobile app enthusiasts say mobile apps are important when choosing their new operator. And, almost 40% cite "bad mobile apps" as a reason they left their operator. The dimensions of wireless coverage and service are still more important than mobile app choice, but it certainly raises the bar for operators, and gives them one more thing they have to think about. http://mob4hire.blogspot.com/2010/03/mob4hire-releases-first-look-at-global.html
